Stony Plain adjusted its policies on bullying and other issues Monday.

During the annual meeting of the town council, Jackie Verkland, town human resources manager, presented councillors with a plan to switch workplace violence, bullying and harassment policy from a council to administrative initiative. This would then make issues easier to handle.

“The repeal of [these guidelines] as a council police and creating them as an administrative policy would allow administration to adapt the policy quickly to address this important topic in the operations of the town,” a background on the request in the agenda read. “[Current policy] focuses on operational matters rather than matters of governance, public services and programs.”

The change was approved.
