2020 had brought a lot of challenges to the entire world and Millet was no exception. Millet started the year with a new administration team. This in itself can be very challenging. In March the world as we all knew it changed and we all had to find new ways to continue our day-to-day operations.
Administration decided to keep the glass half full and use this time to analyze and review all operations and facilities. First, they reviewed the entire municipal budget and challenged all staff to find ways to cut costs without effecting daily operations. While this was a challenging exercise it was well worth the effort.
We then had full analysis of all Town facilities which identified major issues with the Community hall, library and administration building. It was also discovered that the old Millet School building structure was sound and had potential for redevelopment.
Administration then went right to work to find solutions for the problems and brought forth a recommendation to Council that we move the community hall, library and administration office into the old school building. This was able to be done with no increase in taxes to our residents and restored the old Millet school building that means so much to our Community.
